Bowling Industry Online

The World's Only Online Magazine Devoted Exclusively to the Business of Bowling

I'm not going to lie, beyond my shoe size and the goal is to knock down as many pins as possible, I know nothing about bowling! I'm happy when I get 100. Not kidding.

So why am I working for the bowling industry and on IBI? My background is in marketing and graphic design. I have been fortunate to be in the right place at the right time. The last three years I have ran a freelance business and was keeping my head above water. So I do get the entrepreneur spirit and the passion for doing what you love. One day I decided to look out there, just see what job market was doing. I found a position online and forwarded it to a good friend who I thought would know the company since it was in her field. I was hoping to get my resume to the top of the list if I choose to send one. She sent the link for the job up to her boss, who just happens to be part owner of Royal Pin. They (Jim Doty and the other big guys) were actually JUST talking about promoting their marketing director and hiring someone from the "outside". Mark Schoch was promoted to GM of one or our centers that day and I got a call for an interview. So here we are.

My duties are the same as they would be as marketing director anywhere, but this job, company and industry are amazing. I couldn't have created a better fit. I've been here almost 3 months now. So far I'm redesigning the website for better navigation, updating our look and creating a presence in the social media world. I also maintain the duties that Mark had in working with the program directors for creating and promoting leagues and our kids programs. I'm working on a new type of league/open bowling hybrid. (more on that as it develops)

I plan to get more involved in IBI and get to know you all that are active as well. I'm ready to share ideas - what's worked here and hasn't. What have you done, thinking about doing?

Looking forward to getting to know you to. Let me know you took a minute to read. Talk with you soon!
